SPECIAL NOTICE |
BB
Shootings
On
June 7, 2010, many resident incurred vehicle
damages due to BB shootings. The suspects
are possible residents of our neighborhood.
The police have reports on file; and,
are working on the case(s). If any resident
who has incurred damages related to BB shootings
and has not contacted the police or his/her/their
insurance company, please do so ASAP.
It is extremely important that the police
have as much information as possible in order
to apprehend and convict the perpetrators.
The
HHOA has also incurred damages at the park and
pool. When the police are ready to file
charges, we will be first in line. There
has also been damage to at least one resident's
home related to these incidents. The police
are diligently working on the case(s), and they
need your cooperation.
The
HHOA is offering a reward to anyone who comes
forward with information that will lead to a
conviction. If you see or hear anything
which may be helpful to the police, please call
the non-emergency police number (540) 582-7115.
So that we can maintain our community a safe
place to live, we must pull together to keep
the minority of unsupervised, mindless cowards
from ruining what we worked so hard to enjoy
in our community.
Please
keep your eyes and ears open. We hope
to resolve this situation soon. Thank
you.

HHOA NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM |
July
5 at 2:00 PM
July 8 at 8:00 PM
Holleybrooke/Cobblestone
Subdivision
Neighborhood Watch Information Sessions
Hello,
fellow neighbors. Summertime is here and
we are gearing up to conduct our second round
of kickoff meetings. Thanks to all in
the community who signed up as interested in
joining our neighborhood watch during pool pass
sign ups. If you were one of those individuals
who wanted to obtain information before committing,
or haven't yet had an opportunity to learn more
about what we are all about, then your chance
is coming. We will hold two information
sessions at the park pavilion on Monday,
July 5th at 2:00 PM, and on
Thursday, July
8th at 8:00 PM. We hope
to see you there.
HHOA
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program
that enlists active participation of Holleybrooke
residents in cooperation with Spotsylvania County
law enforcement authorities to prevent, reduce,
if not eliminate crime in our community.
Our program also promotes neighbors to know
each other while working together in a spirit
of unity in curbing crime. In the process,
the members of our community become continuously
cognizant of suspicious activities in the neighborhood;
punctual in reporting incidents to the Sheriff's
Office; and, efficient in circulating relevant
communication for our community awareness.
The
HHOA Neighborhood Watch Program is one which
community residents, in cooperation with local
law enforcement authorities, directly participate
in the detection, prevention, abatement and
reporting of criminal activities in the community.
Therefore, in order to institutionalize the
program, our community involves proactive members
who can assist us in achieving our program's
goals. Ultimately, our community will
be a better and safer place to live in the county.
The
HHOA Neighborhood Watch Coordinator is currently
soliciting volunteers. If you are interested
in joining our program, please go to www.holleybrooke.org/pdf/NeighborhoodWatchSurvey.pdf
and submit your information as an email attachment
to holleybrookenw@yahoo.com.
We could use all the help we can get.

ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL COMMITTEE REPORT
(February - June 2010) |
The
Association typically receives a phone call from
homeowners who received violation notification.
In most cases, they will want to know why they
are being singled out, and what about "Mr.
Jones'" house. The following summarizes
actions taken by the Architectural Management:
- Major
Violation Letters - 88
(illegal vehicles, litter and debris,
grass)
- Additions
or Changes - 1
(new deck)
On
a positive note, as always, sincere appreciation
goes to our residents who continue to be mindful
of our covenants, and are courteous to our neighbors.
|
|
HEADS UP |
Please
keep your lawn properly maintained. If
you need assistance, check the "Youth Services"
of our Newsletter hardcopy for the list of teens
within the community who can provide various
services.
|
|
PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES |
Speeding in excess of the posted speed limit
of 25 mph within the Holleybrooke/Cobblestone
subdivision is against the law.
Fortunately, we have received many complaints/concerns
regarding speeding. The Sheriff's department
has been put on alert and hopefully they will
be able to issue tickets to all who violate
the speeding law. We need assistance from
our residents! Please call the Spotsylvania
Sheriff's office at 582-7115 and request a patrol
for speeding, be sure to mention a specific
location if necessary. The Association
cannot do this alone - ALL
SPEEDING INCIDENTS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE
IN ORDER TO ENSURE SAFETY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
Animal
Waste:
We received several calls from residents who
have had the unfortunate task of cleaning up
after a dog has defecated on their property,
which includes the ditch and where their cars
are parked in front of their houses.

HATS OFF! |
2010
GRADUATES! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL GRADUATES!
WE WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS!
The
HHOA Newsletter created a column entitled "Hat's
Off" which needs contributors like you
to make it work. This is a place where
you can brag on yourself, your family or your
neighbors regarding just about anything.
Do you have a new baby or similar announcement?
Did someone come to your rescue or someone else's?
Have you found a worthwhile charitable organization
to give of your time? Did a loved one
receive orders of deployment or recently return?
Our community wants to recognize and honor these
happenings. Please let us know so we can
post them here.

HELP SAVE A LIFE |
During
a recent monthly meeting for the Chancellor
Volunteer Fire/Rescue, a young girl from Powhatan
County , Virginia (Monica, age 11) was introduced.
She is an animal lover who decided she wanted
to do something to help animals.
Petmask.Com
is the brainchild that she formed in order to
provide a source to raise money to purchase
Pet Rescue & Resuscitation Oxygen Mask
for fire departments to help save animals.
Monica
presented to the Chancellor Fire Department
4 complete sets of Pet Oxygen Masks to allow
firefighters to give oxygen to pets rescued
from fires. The masks come in three sizes.
If
you'd like to donate, please visit www.Petmask.Com
You
may designate a particular fire department as
the recipient. The station that is currently
the first call to our community is Chancellor
#10 Fire and Rescue. (Information by Irene
Davidson).

PAVILION USE |
The
pavilion has been a success even though we have
continual vandalism. All homeowners are
welcome to use the pavilion for private birthday
parties or family gatherings. However,
for liability reasons, the pavilion is not available
for outside events such as sports team parties
or church groups, etc. If you want to
reserve the entire pavilion for a family event,
reservations are required prior to the event
(two weeks notice, please). So that all
homeowners can enjoy the use of the pavilion,
we ask that you always pick up after your event
and either take your trash with you or utilize
the large plastic trash receptacle by the shed
which gets picked up on trash day. The
Board is in the process of preparing rules and
regulations and they will be available to all
homeowners soon. Please use common sense
when utilizing the pavilion and park area and
read the existing signs. Please remember
that rules are made to protect us all.
We thank you.

HHOA DUES |
Methods
of Payment -
It has come to the Board's attention that there
is some confusion as to how dues payments are
accepted by the HHOA. The HHOA ONLY accepts
payment by check, money order or cash.
We are NOT set up to
accept payment by credit card whether over the
phone, in person or online. Although online
banking is now available by paying bills, the
recipient is not necessarily set up to accept
payment by electronic fund transfer (EFT).
The HHOA is NOT set up to accept EFTs.
Please check with your bank to find out how
this process is completed if your recipient
is not set up to accept funds electronically.
You may think that the funds are sent
electronically, but in reality, a physical check
is cut to the HHOA by means of a clearing house
and the check is mailed through the US Postal
System and reaches our post office box through
the post office.
If
for some reason the check does not clear your
account (which you must monitor), chances are
the check may have been lost in the mail.
The HHOA is not responsible for checks lost,
stolen or returned. The HHOA has been
receiving non-electronic payments for twenty
years and does not foresee changing its policy.
It is cost prohibitive. We appreciate
your understanding and cooperation. Thank
you.
