ARCHITECTURAL GUIDELINES REMINDER...
|
Please take time to read
our ACC Guidelines and check your property for
the areas indicated in this article as well
as those in the guidelines. Notice of
Violation letters will be sent if any of the
following requirements are not taken:
- Vehicles
must be in an operable condition (must display
all current state decals, tags), they cannot
be parked on the grass, and they cannot be
covered just to disguise the fact that they
are inoperable.
- Pick
up all litter surrounding your property (bags
with telephone books, cans, paper, flyers,
etc that were placed in the paper boxes).
- Clear
your property's drainage ditches of leaves
and debris. This will allow drainage
efficiency of stormwater runoff through our
properties. Please place leaves and
debris in proper trash receptacles at your
residence.
- Lawns
must be properly maintained. Fall is
an excellent time to plant new grass seeds
as well as replace any dead shrubbery.
Keep the lawn mowed and free of litter before
you mow.
- The
rear and sides of your house must be kept
in an orderly manner. Junk must be removed.
Do not dump items into your neighbor's yard.
Use proper trash containers.
- Dead
trees must be removed from the property.
- Yard
sale signs must be removed immediately after
the sale.
- Outbuildings
must be maintained (painting, new shingles,
etc.)
- Political
signs must be removed the day after the election!
- Be
a courteous neighbor. Although parking
on our community streets is not an ACC violation,
however, we urge you not to park your vehicles
so as to create a road hazard for other motorists.
- Advertising
signs may not be displayed for more than 5
days (home improvement).
- Home-based
business advertising may not be displayed
in the yard.
- Holiday
decorations must be removed within 30 days
after the holidays.

ARCHITECTURAL MANAGEMENT ACTIONS |
The
Association typically receives a phone call from
homeowners who received violation notification.
In most cases, they will want to know why they
are being singled out, and what about "Mr.
Jones'" house. The following summarizes
actions taken by the Architectural Management:
- Minor
Violation Postcards - 27
(tall grass, neglected ditches, illegal
vehicles)
- Major
Violation Letters - 25
(illegal vehicles, litter & debris,
dead trees, aboveground swimming pool)
- Additions
or Changes - 3
(sheds, fences, decks, tree house,
room additions)
As
always, sincere appreciation goes to our residents
who continue to be mindful of our covenants,
and are courteous to our neighbors.

OUTSIDE BURNING IS ILLEGAL!!! |

You
may NOT burn leaves, tree limbs, grass cuttings
or yard trimmings in the Holleybrooke/Cobblestone
community. Although the state burn law allows
burning after 4:00 p.m. between February 15th
through April 30th, the burn site must, however,
be 300 feet from any occupied building (other
than yours) and be attended to at all times.
|
|
PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES |
A courtesy reminder is extended to everyone
that discharging a weapon of any kind within
the subdivision is illegal. This constraint
includes, but not limited to, BB Guns, Paint
Ball Guns, Compound Bows, etc. For additional
information, please feel free to contact the
Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office at their
non-emergency number.
A
few reports have been made of shooting BB Guns
to kill squirrels. While many of us consider
squirrels as a nuisance, please bear in mind
that shooting them in the community is illegal.
We
also received reports of people riding dirt
bikes and quad runners on the streets.
This is also a violation against prevailing
county and state laws.

|
HATS OFF! |

The Holleybrooke Newsletter has created a column
entitled "Hats Off"
which needs contributors like you to make it
work. This is a place where you can brag
on yourself, your family, or your neighbor regarding
just about anything. Do you have a new
baby or similar announcement; did someone come
to your or someone else's rescue; have you found
a worthwhile charitable organization to give
of your time; or did a loved one receive orders
of deployment or recent return? Our community
wants to recognize and honor these happenings.

OUR NEW PAVILION |
The
Pavilion has been a success despite continual
vandalism. All homeowners are welcome
to use it for private birthday parties or family
gatherings. For liability reasons, the
pavilion is not available for outside events
such as sports team parties or church groups,
etc. If you want to reserve the entire
pavilion for a family event, reservations are
required prior to the event (two weeks notice,
please). In order that homeowners can
enjoy the use of our pavilion, we ask that you
pick up after your event and either take your
trash with you or utilize the large plastic
trash receptacle by the shed which gets picked
up during trash days. The Board is in
the process of preparing rules and regulations
and they will be available to all homeowners
soon. Please use common sense when utilizing
the pavilion and park area. Take heed
of existing signs as they are posted to protect
our common interest.

HELP SAVE A LIFE |
During
a recent monthly meeting for the Chancellor
Volunteer Fire/Rescue, a young girl from Powhatan
County , Virginia (Monica, age 11) was introduced.
She is an animal lover who decided she wanted
to do something to help animals.
Petmask.Com
is the brainchild that she formed in order to
provide a source to raise money to purchasePet
Rescue & Resuscitation Oxygen Mask
for fire departments to help save animals.
Monica
presented to the Chancellor Fire Department
4 complete sets of Pet Oxygen Masks to allow
firefighters to give oxygen to pets rescued
from fires. The masks come in three sizes.
If
you'd like to donate, please visit www.Petmask.Com
You
may designate a particular fire department as
the recipient. The station that is currently
the first call to our community is Chancellor
#10 Fire and Rescue. (Information by Irene
Davidson).

VANDALISM AT THE PARK |
Recently, the pavilion
and the playground equipment have been vandalized.
In September, the security lights at the pavilion
were broken, and an electrician had to be called
to get the damage repaired. Since the
installation of the pavilion, tables have been
moved around, and several youths have been observed
skateboarding on the tables and benches as well
as scratching pictures and/or writings into
the aluminum. As recent as the first week
in October, someone reported that a boy was
seen at the playground using a knife to damage
the equipment. Incident reports have been
filed with the police department, and the HHOA
is offering a reward to anyone who can provide
incriminating information to the Board for any
acts of vandalism in our common areas.
Homeowners
are ultimately responsible for the cost of vandalism.
WE urge everyone to be vigilant about keeping
a watchful eye out when at the park, playground,
or pavilion - or even just passing by.
Parents,
please inform your children (regardless of age)
that the park closes at dusk. Whether
you see someone loitering or committing a crime,
we all have the responsibility in ensuring that
incidents are appropriately reported to the
police and to the Association via our HOA Hotline.

HHOA'S VOICE MAIL BOX |
We received many calls on the voice mail box
line. However, some people do not leave
name or phone number. Please be advised,
we must have a name or a phone number in order
for us to address your concerns. Complaints
about a potential violation cannot be addressed
unless we know of the complete address of the
violator. Rest assured we will never disclose
